Making a difference through passionate people and funding.
Capital Finance is committed to make a positive difference to Australian communities. We invest in the communities in which we live and work to help them prosper and grow – because being the best bank for our customers also means being the best bank for colleagues and communities.
As part of the Lloyds International group, we support the Lloyd’s International charitable foundation – the Black Horse Foundation - which operates as an independent company, working with charitable organisations across Australia. We work with our key business partners – customers, dealers, vendors and brokers, to raise funds for these organisations, and we also enable our employees to volunteer their time and skills to help those in need.
Since its launch to colleagues in 2006, the Foundation has contributed over $5.4 million to a long list of causes.
Read our 2012 booklet to find out what was achieved last year.
Our 2013 charity partner is Redkite.
In addition to our key charity partner the Foundation also supports specific projects for other charities in our communities.
The Beacon Foundation works to prevent young Australians leaving school to go on to unproductive or insecure pathways, or worse still, becoming marginalised and dropping out. Beacon helps schools in disadvantaged communities to develop the skills, motivation, career knowledge and connections they need to successfully transition to employment, further education or training. The Foundation is lending support by sponsoring the Beacon Program at Ashcroft High School, a disadvantaged school in Sydney’s West.
CPA is committed to enhancing the lives of people with cerebral palsy and enabling their full participation in the community. Each year, CPA provides services to thousands of children and adults with Cerebral Palsy and their families.
The Foundation will sponsor two Youth Camps for CPA: “Junior Master Chef inspired” and the “Amazing Race inspired”. The camps help combating isolation and lack of confidence for young people with CP and give parents much needed four-day respite.
School for Social Entrepreneurs runs practical learning programs for entrepreneurial individuals who have an idea or start–up venture with a social or environmental benefit.
The Black Horse Foundation sponsors 2 bursaries to participate in the Incubator Program so they can set up a social venture to benefit the Australian community or environment.
The Foundation’s philosophy is to create sustainable partnerships that deliver real value. We involve our business partners, our colleagues and their families in providing assistance through dedicated resources and financial support.
Our activities focus on a number of areas:
The Foundation facilitates various fundraising activities. Funds raised are matched by Lloyds International dollar for dollar.
Capital Finance gives colleagues one day each year to volunteer with a charity or community project of their choice. The Foundation also facilitates a colleague volunteering program, providing direct volunteer opportunities and strong encouragement to take part in supporting the communities in which colleagues live and work.
In addition to supporting our charity partners, colleagues are able to support other causes and organisations which they feel passionate about. These additional volunteering and fundraising efforts are recognised by the Foundation, including through the provision of bonus annual leave to reward colleagues who volunteer in their community and matching fundraising proceeds.
Where do financial contributions come from?
Contributions made to the Foundation come from a variety of sources:
